The first month while we were home, I felt like Calgary was overwhelming and considered that maybe New Zealand is where we should be instead. Then I thought, don’t run away from something when it’s difficult. Being back here makes me remember why I left in the first place – I wanted to be somewhere new, somewhere exciting, somewhere uncomfortable and challenging.
Now that I’ve finally got one of those jobbie thingies, I know we will at least be in Calgary until the end of the year. In that time, I want to show Jess how great Western Canada is.
We’ve been here for almost two months now, and so far, we’ve been through Canmore Lake Louise, and Banff,
and my childhood escape, the Enchanted Forest,
out to Panorama and down through Idaho, Washington (where weed is legal), and Oregon for What The Festival (WTF!?).
We came back up through Forks (where the Twilight Saga took place),
and we visited Vancouver.
We’ve been to Stampede,
and watched the Stampeders play.
We’ve caught up with family,
Heck, we’ve even worked on my car with strangers.
And of course, we’ve slept in my car… many, many times.
We have done a lot in the past two months, but we have a lot more to do. In the next 21 months (before Jess’ Canadian visa expires), we want to see the national parks on the West side of the US like Yosemite and Sequoia National Park, we want to travel across Canada and back through the States, and we’d like to see parts of South America, namely Chile to visit our friend Ligia.
We have to see all that whilst somehow keeping up our funds and not becoming broke, because after Canada, who knows where we will be off to!
Tomorrow is the next adventure. See you there!
